Training at R.S.W Maritime Academy

Training Comprising of Academics will be completed in 3 to 5 days. Besides this the 5 basic STCW-2010 courses are completed in next 15 days.

Spherical Trigonometry, Meteorology, Navigation, Bridge Equipment, and Watch-keeping. Chart work, Education Films, Visual signals, seamanship.

Cargo gear, Cargo Handling and Stowage. Naval Arch, Ship Construction and Stability, Practical Seamanship.

STCW-2010 Courses


On Completion of Pre-Sea Training All the candidates have to complete the following STCW’95 basic familiarization courses approved by Directorate General Of Shipping, Govt. Of India.

Elementary First Aid : – 2 days

Personal Survival Techniques : – 3 Days

Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention : – 3 Days

Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities : – 3 Days

Indos No. – 15 Days approximately

Ship Security – 4 Days


Academic Facilities

Being a fully residential program, the academy provides air condition (A.C.) Hostel facilities for the candidates which is equipped with well designed dormitories and a Hygienic Kitchen where food is served which is very healthy and balanced.

Heavy breakfast is given in the morning lunch is provided with a choice of Veg. /Non Veg. There is a tea break which is followed by light snacks. Before light-out dinner is served. Academy will take care of any emergencies, about is not responsible for any personal injury or any diseases suffered by any trainee during their stay. Anyhow all sort of medical assistance will be provided at their own cost for their treatment. Uniforms and books material is provided by the academy after confirmation of admission. During the course cadets will be provided a set of books on academic subjects which will become their property after the completion of training. Audio and video aids are provided at the time of academic sessions to make the syllabus more practical and easy. The Maritime safeties are screened regularly. Self study time is allowed for students to assimilate the subject which is assisted by the staff. Regular assignment will be given during the course which must be carried out. Cadet will also be given tough practical training as aspect of sea going career.
